AL North

Fargo/New York –daddiothree    1st Rnd Picks (2nd)  (20 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A, 1 amazing pick and 1 pick really not worth remembering

Daddio was only here for one season, but I have to give him credit for making a great pick, adding on two solid selections in the Rule 5 draft, it was a great season for building a team up.

1-2-Thad Cooper-RF  Coming out of the gate hot here.  Cooper might be one of the greatest players our league has seen by the time he retires. Should get to 700 Homers and when you pair that up with his multiple accolades you have one amazing draft pick.

3-88-Rico Chacin-Rel Pitched in the majors for parts of 4 seasons, picking up 5 wins and sporting a 5.74 ERA

Ottawa/Tacoma-tomcecil   1st Rnd Picks   (28th)  (15 Years Major League Seasons)

Draft Grade: B, first round was a bit of a bust but two solid picks after that turned this around

Tomcecil usually had a pretty good team, perhaps finding hidden gems was what kept him so good?

1-28-MickeyYoung-3rd  Mickey was an excellent 1st Baseman and a terrible 3rd Baseman. Too bad for him he hit more like a SS. A career .246 hitter he did steal 20 bases in his best season.

4-149-DaricJames-1st  A lot of swing and miss in his bat, Still put up some serious power numbers in his limited time (58 homers in 897 AB’s).  A little surprised he didn’t play longer.

11-373-Dennis Brownson-2nd  Very solid pick here, winner of a Gold Glove and had pretty decent bat reaching double digits in homers 3 times while also driving in 96 runs one season

Helena/Kansas City-olemiss33   1st Rnd Picks (14th-36th) (3 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: D, most picks went unsigned and the ones that did were not very good.

This was olemiss33’s first season, in which he lost over 100 games in 3 of the 4 he was here. The team got much better when he left so maybe he had some better drafts coming up?

1-14-RonaldJohns-SS Went unsigned

1-36-Cody Cumberland- 2nd  Grabbed a WS ring in his last season. Wasn’t terribly skilled in the field but hit fairly well (16 homers and 276 AVG in 666 AB’s)

Chicago/Detroit-Goldenboy00   1st Rnd Picks  (26th-52nd)  (11 major League Seasons)

Draft Grade: C-  Both 1st rounds made the bigs but were not anything special

I had an early 9 year run in this league, this was my 3rd season and not my best showing in the standings or the draft

1-26-LyleSimas-Rel  Pitched in 430 games, once saving 11 games and another time winning 9 games. A career 4.46 ERA wasn’t anything great

1-52-Thomas Fontanez-CF  Hit 16 homers and 13 steals in his best season. Couldn’t hit for AVG and was a below average fielder at any place except COF/1st

AL East

Rochester/Indianopolis-gds46016   1st Rnd Picks (23-31-39-43-50-54) (26 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: B- a bunch of major league players but no real building blocks for a team.

Gds only played WIS for three seasons, and this was his only one with us. Not bad for novice player.

1-23-Omar Leon-SS  Decent bench player could hit okay, run okay and field everything from SS down. Finished his career with 255 AVG

1-31-Tony Fraser-RF/3rd  Was a pretty solid fielding COF and had 2 seasons with over 74 RBI, even hitting 23 homers once. Only hit 246 and had a 309 OBP

1-39-Chuck Power-2nd  Smooth fielding, speedy Chuck Power couldn’t really hit at the big league level and checked out of the bigs with less then 200 Ab’s.

1-43-Ryan Kubitza-LF  Bit of a weird player, could have been a Gold Glove LF/RF maybe even 2nd. Could run like crazy 41 steals in 240 games. But for some reason spent almost as much time playing catcher in his career.

1-50-D’VontreyDarling-Rel  Was not very good, and pitching in Colorado didn’t do him any favours. One season 13.35 ERA and a 2.71 WHIP

1-54-Geoffrey Alpin-Rel  Had a couple of OK seasons but finished his career with a 14-26 record and a 4.89 ERA

20-652-Hooks Hayes-SS Hung around in the majors for parts of 7 seasons, fielded pretty well and twice hit over 10 homers. Pretty incredible for 20th round pick

New York/Baltimore-kookie52  1st Rnd Picks (1-33) (23 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A probably the 2nd best player taken in the draft, and then 4 more players that actually made the majors. Considering he probably had 20/20 in scouting he should have done better

Kookie was a tanker who won 124 games over three seasons, this was a great draft, but no excuse for losing on purpose.

1-1-Turner King-CF What a great draft year when you figure that King who at the time of this writing looks to be on his way to the Hall of Fame wasn’t the best player taken. Dynamic power bat that was also a Gold Glove winner in CF.

1-33-Dan Brock-SP  Solid rookie season 8-12 with a 3.85 ERA, two seasons later would go 8-21. Overall not the worst SP but the last half of his career was nothing to write home about.

2-55-Anthony Nelson-RF  Played two full seasons and hit 13 and 16 homers respectively.  Not enough for a COF that wasn’t fast or a great fielder.

2-70-Jesse Lincoln-LF Hit two homers in 20 AB’s in one season and never played again.

3-87-Joe Felsen-SS Horrible hitter 172/232/237 Slash line. Fielded pretty well even winning some minor league Gold Gloves.

Atlanta/Charlotte-JIMMYOF   1st Rnd Picks (29)  (15 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C-  Probably nothing you couldn’t get in a good rule 5 draft.

JIMMYOF was nearing the end of a 35 season run in this league…hopefully he didn’t leave the cupboard bare.

1-29-Shane Cook-Rel  Had two very strong seasons were he combined to go 12-4 with 30 saves in 33 chances and an ERA around 3.00  Beyond that he pitched in 700+ games and his ERA was never under 4.00 in a season.

2-83- AlexGarces-LR  8-17 in his rookie season as a Starter, but went 6-4 mostly out of the bullpen in his third season with a respectable ERA of 3.44.  Only pitched three times after that.

Pawtucket-shiffy   1st Rnd Picks (18) (3 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: D, minimal Major league impact

Shiffy burst upon the league with two 100+ win teams in his first three years. Since then has had mixed success.

1-18-Farmer Rolle-SP  156 Wins…in the minors. Only 7 in the majors with a 7.10 ERA

2-72-Lyle Davis-2nd/SS/3rd  By no means a great fielder, it looks like he was a good enough bat to stick around longer then he did. A  career 260 hitter with a 330 OBP he hit 16 homers and stole 37 bases in his 739 Ab’s

AL South

Florida-chunkym   1st Rnd Picks (30)   (20 Years Major League Service Time)

Draft Grade: B+ picking that late getting a fulltime major league is a good steal

Chunky was at the end of an incredible run, despite drafting this late he grabbed a very good player

1-30-Dave Stauffer-2nd/LF  Not a great fielder at 2nd, but handled LF fairly well. 260 career homers with 7 seasons topping 20+. A career 806 OPS is pretty solid for a pick at #30.

2-84-Sebastian Achter-LR  Had some truly horrible seasons (2-13 with a 6.50 ERA) and a couple of good ones. Finished with a career 4.47 ERA

6-215-Henry Robinson-Rel Saved 3 games in his 11 appearances. Only played the one season.

Jackson/Little Rock-sylemark  1st Rnd Picks (10) (12 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: D+  a pick at #10 should get someone with a bit more jazz.

Syle was in the middle of 7 year run in the league, he would not distinguish himself with this draft

1-10-Jesus Falu-LR  Handful of seasons were he filled the backend of the rotation pretty well, collecting  56 of his 81 career wins over a 6 year span. ERA floated around 4.50 for the bulk of his career. Not a great #10 pick

Tampa Bay/Richmond-wallyworld15    1st Rnd Picks (4-45) (0 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: F, wow he barely signed any of his picks and left two 1st rounders unsigned

Wally only finished once over 500 once in his 5 years here, this was an exceptionally bad year for him.

Monterrey-eric1214    1st Rnd Picks (24)  (8 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C, A useable player but an over spend on another

Eric1214 was finishing off a pretty strong run, lets see how well he drafts as his team moves up in the draft order.

1-24-George Latham-CF  Spent most of his career playing CF and was vey good making 22+ plays, but won his lone Gold Glove at 3rd base were he made 30+ plays that season.  Not great with the bat but could be counted on for about 10 homers a season.

2-78-Wayne Bristow-Rel  eric shelled out over 2 Million in signing bonus and got a pitcher with a 8.69 ERA. Ouch

AL West

Tuscon/San Francisco- eryanf   1st Rnd Picks (22)  (16 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A-, a really solidpick at 22. Better then most people who picked way earlier

Eryanf only spent one season here and had a very solid draft

1-22-Kirk Sanders-1st  Made 1 All-Star team while popping 334 Career homers and stealing 247 bases. Was also a top flight fielder at 1st (171+bases) but never won a GG.

2-76-Felix Crawford-SS  Had a whopping 10 extra base hits in 461 Ab’s.  Luckily could field pretty well making 19+ plays in the same career

12-399-Rick Ross-2nd  Got the call for part of one season and hit 3 homers with 6 steals in 59 games.

Oakland/Las Vegas-axtell   1st Rnd Picks (25)  (14 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C+  not a bad pick, about what you might expect at that #

Axtell was building a pretty respectable team, but it takes better picks then this to build a dynasty

1-25-Louis Selby-SP Finished with 105 wins against 136 losses, a 1.40 WHIP and a 4.25 ERA. All in all not bad for a 25th pick

2-79-Fritz Daniels-2nd  Played three games collecting 1 hit in 2 Ab’s

Wichita/Anahiem-nadawg77    1st Rnd Picks (3-19-35-47)  (45 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A, there are no Hall of Famers here, but 2 Very Good players and two others that had solid if unspectacular careers.

Nadawg only had e seasons left with us and really had a great draft to help replenish the farm system.

1-13-Terry Warner-SP  Won as many WS rings as he played in All Star Games (4). Went 16-5 in the post season on top of his 170-129 regular season record. Finished just under 2000 K’s and with an ERA of 3.83

1-19-Kevin Calhoun-3rd/2nd  Very strong fielder making 117 + plays between his time at 3rd and 2nd. Coupled that with a good power bat that saw him hit 365 Career homers.

1-35-Walter Rodgers-SS-went unsigned

1-47-Herb Galloway-3rd  Much less of a solid fielder then Calhoun, he made 21 Negative plays at his primary position. Wasn’t a bad hitter, passing 20+ homers twice and hitting for a 263 AVG in his career.

2-67-KarlAlexander-3rd  Another very good fielder, even winning a Gold Glove at 3rd base. Hit 25 homers in his best season, but his numbers dropped off in a big way after that.

Colorado/St.Louis-picc818   1st Rnd Picks (5,46)  (19 years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: B-,  Pretty good pair of picks, if Mays had a longer career this grade could have been much higher

A GM since almost the start picc was coming off a few down years and was gearing up for one of his better runs of solid play. Overall a solid draft

1-5-Zephyr Spence-SP  Big strong righty pitched in the bigs for parts of 16 seasons. Finished with 141 wins and losses.  Just 41 k’s short of 2000 for his career. His best all-around season came in ’44 when he went 16-11 with a 1.07 WHIP and 3.46 ERA. He would be considered a safe pick at #5

1-46-Chuck Mays-CF  Surprisingly short career. Over his last three seasons he averaged 14 Homers-43 RBI-255avg and 12 Steals while making 12 + Plays in CF.  Not sure why he never played in the majors after that.

NL North

Pittsburgh-verik22     1st Rnd Picks (15-20-37-48)  (49 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A-, solid deep draft for Pittsburgh, 3 bullpens arms that most teams would enjoy having.

Verik would be gone by season 40  but his draft this season would still be felt for years after.

1-15-Yorrick Benjamin-Rel  ROY-FIREMAN-5 X AllStar Had some incredible seasons as a closer. Saved 69 of 76 games in a two year stretch while having an ERA of just over 2.00

1-20 Ralph Feliciano-2nd  UNSIGNED

1-37-Zephyr Moreno-RF  Stocky sparkplug (5’10-230lbs). Stole 36 and 25 bases in back to back seasons. Then followed that up with is best season that saw him hit 15 homers with 56 RBI, 11 steals and sported an OPS of .931 in a part time role.  Numbers tailed off and three years later was out of the majors.

1-48-Ruben De La Rosa-Rel  Just retired last season after a long career. A very solid 3.91 ERA in a respectable 657 games. A lefty specialist that averaged less than 1 inning per game.

9-296-Carl Andrews-Rel Another solid lefthander, was more of a workhorse type. 861 games with just over 1100 Innings.  Saved 65 games in his career including 25 in his second last season. 4.23 ERA isn’t great but hell he was a 9th Rnd Pick.

Buffalo/Columbus-ab90   1st Rnd Picks (6)   (20 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A, another HOF pick, but not much else

I don’t think I was a fan of ab, but clearly the guy could put together a winning team.

1-6-Minnie Crawford-SP  Wow, another Hall of Fame player in this draft, at this time I think that is 3 total. Still playing today. 252 Wins, over 3000 K’s with an ERA under 3.00.  Hell of a pick.

3-92-Harley Bohn-SP  Was an 8 game winner once, in his rookie season.  Hung around for a bit and finished his career after 6 seasons with a 4.85 ERA.

Chicago/Burlington-xatomsmasher  1st Rnd Picks (21)  (18 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: B Only the 1 pick in the 1st round, getting a solid contributor in the 4th as well

Xatom was coming off back to back 1st place finishes, but would be out of the league by season 39

1-21-LaTroy Francis-1st  Big time masher, 2x40+homers and 6 other times 30+ homers. Had trouble hitting lefties and finished his career with a 259 AVG and 317 OBP

4-142-Kenny Cole-C Excellent fielding catcher that called a great game (cERA 3.47) and threw out almost 50% of would be base stealers. Hit 15 homers and 11 homers in back to back seasons to start his career, never hit more then 6 after that.

New Britain-nosirrommij2   1st Rnd Picks (7)  (17 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: B- Could have maybe hoped for more from the 7th overall pick.

Nosir was about 3 years away from 3 straight 100 win teams. Maybe it was an earlier draft that set the table for that?

1-7-Louis Graham-3rd  Good fielder and power hitter, knocking out 318 homers, wasn’t the most clutch hitters as his career high was 87 RBI.

22-705-Alfredo Gilbert-Rel  His last season was his best going 5-2 with 3 saves and a 4.04 ERA. One of the lowest drafted players I have seen to have any sort of ML impact

NL EAST

Cincinnati/Hartford-goldgren    1st rnd Picks (17-38-42-49) (33 years Major League Service)

Draft Grade:A- 1 great pick, 1 solid MLB’er and two players that showed they could contribute

Goldgreen has not won a WS in this world…yet but by the looks of this draft it hasn’t been his ability to scout good talent.

1-17-Marcus Womack-RF  Switch hitting free swinger, Struck out almost twice as much as he walked but did manage to crack 423 Homers while stealing 279 Bases. Was also a quality fielder in Right winning a Gold Glove. Very good pick at 17

1-38-Bret Luebbers-Rel  Spent the last 5 years of his career as an opener accounting for 60 of his 116 Loses and only 1 of his 54 wins. Was better off as a Multiple inning closer that saw him save 193 games in his career.

1-42-Audy Anderson-SP- Was lite up pretty bad in all 4 of his seasons to a tune of a 8.31 ERA

1-49-Ray Brock-2nd- Not sure what happened to this guy. Really good pop for a player that could handle 2nd base. Hit 25 and 26 homers in his last two season while hitting for about a 260 avg. But never played in the majors after that

5-170-Denzel Banks-C  Proved to be a decent backup catcher in his two seasons providing reasonable defense and hitting 9 round trippers in 267 Ab’s.

Syracuse-bdrose   1st Rnd Picks (27-53)  (6 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: D+ a pretty weak haul

Bdrose was in a stretch were he was winning about 90 games every season so its probably safe to say he was in a win now scenario more then scouting for the future.

1-27-Nomar Magnante-LR  Was at best a back end starter or MOP up pitcher. Ended his career with a 4.97 ERA while giving up 119 homers in just 724 Innings

1-53- Gabriel Byrnes-3rd This usual suspect never reached the majors

Hartford/New York AL-sonofodin52    1st Rnd Picks (40-51)  (4 years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C- Someone who held down a ML job for 4 years isn’t bad, also signed almost all his picks…No DITR though

Sonofodin had peaked the previous season taking an 84 win team to the WS, I think he went all in on Free agents this year but it didn’t pay off and the minors would not produce any superstars for some time

1-40-Devaris Collins-3rd Played pretty much full time for 4 seasons hitting 30,29,13 and 29 Homers. Struck out far too often and was not a very good fielder. Can’t be considered a disappointment when drafted this late in the 1st Round.

1-51-Steve Janssen-LF Never reached the majors

Kansas City/Scranton-pitboss13   1st Rnd Picks (11)  (11 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C, A pick just out of the top in this draft had netted much better players then KC got.

In the middle of a five year run in this league pitboss had has best season with 85 wins but hopefully for him his worst draft

1-11-Freddy Ramsey-CF  Amazingly hit for the cycle in his rookie season…he only had 1 Triple that season. Stole double digit bases every season but one in which he played part time. OBP was always a bit low and that probably hampered his career numbers

2-65-David Williamson-2nd  Played just the one season in the Majors and was pretty good. A plus defender who also stole 33 bases. Could have a been a solid Back up infielder if given the chance.

14-452-Duke Paul-SP Got a fair share of starts for a few seasons and never really played very well. Did win 8 games in his rookie season but sported an ERA close to 6

NL SOUTH

Huntington/Jacksonvill-rdeveny   1st Rnd Picks (3-34-44)  (24 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: D+ That #3 pick is big miss when compared to the other players taken in this draft

This was rdevenys last of three very poor seasons. The team would not make the playoffs for 9 seasons so its fair that his drafting did very little to help the franchise

1-3-Marvin Long-Rel  Started his career as a mid tier Starting pitcher, morphed into a quasi-closer, and is finishing up his career as a fairly solid Set-up man.  While all in all a pretty good player for a long time, must be a bit of a disappointment missing out on the potential Hall of Famers in this draft.

1-34-Bud Lewis-P  Unsigned

1-44-Rick Thurman-C Canadian born backstop cracked 63 homers in 2000 ab’s, had trouble hitting for average (218) and was nothing special behind the plate

2-57-Ron Connelley-CF   Was not a great fielder and for that matter not a great hitter. Did steal 42 bases in his short career but also made 36 Negative plays in CF

Texas/Houston-wylie715   1st Rnd Picks (12)  (17 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: B-  the late draft pick helps the grade, just think how good it could have been if the 1st rounder got signed.

Wylies last season in the league, teams seemed to get weaker every season

1-12-Ray Lowe-SS   Did not sign

2-66-Marcus Gran-Rel  Got a chance to close for 2 seasons picking up 46 saves. Finished his career 1 season later with an ERA of 6.63

14-453-Harry Monroe-1st Made the All Star team in season 48 and that wasn’t even his best season. Career is just winding down and with 324 homers almost 2000 hits and 181+ plays at 1st base. Probably the steal of the draft

Louisville-mattster24    1st Rnd Picks (32)   (15 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C  The very definition of an average draft

Mattster has and is almost always a type flight GM in this world. Unless he is always picking hidden gems I don’t think his team is built through the draft.

1-32-Louis Munson-Rel  Solid setup guy got himself a Ring last season. Saved 21 games once and pitched in over 800 games in his career

2-118-Peter Mann-Rel Gave up 8 earned runs in 7 innings for his Major league career

Houston/Santa Fe-klown61455   1st Rnd Picks (41) (6 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C-, love the late pick but beyond that it’s a pretty big strikeout

Klown had built an amazing team with 4 straight 100 win seasons but it looks like as he was checking out he emptied the cupboards

1-41-Vince Wong-2nd  Never reached the majors

17-568-Pete Gilbert-DH   Exploded onto the scene, hitting 99 homers in his first 4 seasons. Also stole 37 bases while having two seasons that saw him hit over 300. Once he moved on from Durham he all but fell off the earth as he hit 10 homers in the parts of two seasons and was done in the majors.

NL WEST

Vancouver/Omaha-outlaw 6-4-3  1st Rnd Picks (NA)   (16 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C, not a bad haul considering the lack of 1st round picks

Outlaw was just getting his start in this world and was going to be very good for a good run. Sneaky good drafts like this are good way to do that

2-77-Cole Hegan-3rd  In season 40 had an incredible stat line in just 81 AB’s 12HR-18 RBI- 321/421/827. Went hitless in his next 14 AB’s and never played again

3-109-Gorkys Ramirez-DH Smacked 4 hits in 20 AB’s but never tasted the majors after that

11-368-Sidney Starr-C  Had a few solid run production seasons, driving in 60+ runs in 4 different seasons. Couldn’t hit for average (231 Career) and was not much of a defensive catcher with a 4.31 CERA

15-496-Andrew Richardson-3rd  Started his career with some exciting seasons averaging about 10HR-50RBI-25steals and 265AVG.  Feel out of favour shortly after in Omaha but did finish his career with a respectable 52 Homers and 121 steals

Boise-Hawkeyeone    1st Rnd Picks (16)  (29 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: C+  Almost 6000IP between the two Starting pitchers drafted

Hawkeyes 3rd season in the league, it would take till season 44 for him to start putting together a consistent team.

1-16-Henderson Paul-SP  2 X All-Star just retired with 176 wins and over 2300 K’s. Pretty good pitcher who could hold the 3/4 spot in most rotations. Good control but did give up his share of homers (488).

7-233-Iago Andrews-SP  Won an impressive 114 games, also lost 180 games with a very high 5.08 ERA Mostly a guy who could eat some innings which isn’t bad for a 7th Rounder.

San Francisco/Colorado-jpax73   1st Rnd Picks (8) (31 Years Major League Service)

Draft Grade: A-,  well done,  got a top flight talent and some solid backend picks.

Jpax was a one and done GM, too bad as he seemed to be a great drafter.

1-8-Nate White-3rd   Not a hall of famer but a hell of a player, MVP, Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove at 2nd, even though he was a very good 3rd baseman as well.  Finished with 441 Homers and 1348 RBI also struck out 1845 times. Great pick

2-62-Shane Nesseth-C  Two time gold glove winner also had decent power (143 Homers) but struggled to hit for strong AVG (231)

4-129 Derek Woods-SP  Got the chance to start for about two seasons compiling a 4-9 record a 5.38 ERA

16-513-Peter Strickland-3rd Not a bad fielder at 3rd, and had solid pop, hitting 11 and 14 Homers in his two best part time seasons. Couldn’t run or hit for much average. If he could might have enjoyed a longer career as a super sub type player

Las Vegas/Vancouver-aaronbrown99  1st Rnd Picks (9)   (14 years ML service)

Draft Grade: D, seems everyone got someone good when they drafted high this year. Las Vegas did not

Aaron was coming off a rare down year and was probably not used to drafting this high

1-9-Brian Sampson-3rd  Played pretty much every position while in the majors. 4 seasons with double digit homers, he struggled to hit for consistent contact resulting in a .239 AVG and .296 OBP.  Just missed out on Nate White with this pick

15-482-Dale Nelson-LR  3 seasons with more then 10 wins (career high was 12) also lost over 15 games twice (career high 19). At the end of his 1200 innings he sat with a 5.02 ERA

Glavine300 Hall Of Fame Report

Once again I have decided to go through our Hall of Fame Ballot to try and take a deeper look at who you might want to cast your vote for. I use a point system that rewards players for Single Season achievements, career milestones, Awards, All Star games and even defensive stats while rewarding players who played tougher positions (ie SS/C/CF/3rd/2nd).

This is just my formula and can not be taken as an exact science.  I will sort the players by Primary Major League position for easy comparison

DH: We currently have 1 DH in the hall of fame Giomar Andujar, he was voted in season 49  and scored 213 with my formula due in large part to his negative defensive score.

BubbaMarlette: He got 7 votes last season so clearly has some fans. He scored very close to Andujar with 211.  He was a huge power hitter and even had the ability to steal some bases. I guess if you are good with Andujar in the Hall than you are okay with Bubba

1st: We have 8 first baseman in the HOF now with the best being Reynel Franco (669) and the worst Ed Hitchcock (239)

Gerald Feng picked up 11 Votes last season, he was another big power bat that won himself an MVP but was also a negative on the defensive side limiting his score to 216

RJ Tarraga is a potentially deserving vote getter, last season he did get 8.  His score is 290 which by no means is high for 1st baseman its much closer to meeting my standards.

Brett Knorr1 vote last season and a score of 261. Once again a little on the low side for a vote from me. He was a tremendous base stealer therefor probably doesn’t get the love that other 1st/COF type power hitters get.

2nd: We have 8 second basemen in the hall with scores ranging from 534, Benito Miranda and 396, Joe O’Keefe.

WikiFuentes (374) Zack Swann (354) Kelly Cone (320) Zachery Perez (285) all picked up at least one vote last season. But beyond Fuentes I don’t see any of them ever getting the call from Cooperstown.

Fuentes was a great base stealer who had surprising power (375 Homers-479 Doubles) who played solid defense even winning himself a Gold Glove for his work in LF

SS: Only one of these in the HOF Bob Drew who scored 381 thanks in large part to his great glove work and solid power

Sadly we only have one nominee who called SS home, Carlos Leon, while Carlos was a very solid power hitter, especially for a SS (496 homers) he did only steal 1 base his entire career and when not playing 2nd/3rd he was actually pretty bad with the glove (77 Negative plays at SS and CF). He will not be getting my vote.

3rd:  6 are currently in the HOF, with Albert Barrios taking the top spot (570) and DT May  (348) the bottom.

KensukeMartin only picked up 3 votes last year but according to me is very deserving with a score of 387 that puts him comfortably in the top 4 of all Third basemen. The power was never anything special, though 304 Homers aren’t bad. He stole almost 600 bases and scored over 1500 Runs, all the while playing exceptional defense making 154 Positive plays at 3rd base

John Won was a big vote getter last season (8) and for good reason, he hit 607 Homers but beyond that didn’t do much. He struck out almost 2000 times as was a bad fielder at any position except 1st base. While his score is 294. I will not be voting for him

Russ Root was another very good power hitter that could field the position very well but lacks the accolades and awards that the other nominees have, his total score is 259.

Centerfield: Three in the Hall BC Santiago (677) Elmer Stocker (473) Santo Toca (350)

We have some interesting nominees this season with Turner King a first time guy getting a lot of early love. King scores 406 with my formula on the back of great power (569 Homers) and great defense (192+ plays at CF) . He also has a closet full of awards.

BrandonHardy almost got in last season (13 Votes)  He was a wiz with the glove…but probably only slightly better then King….if even that. He lacks the offensive numbers from Turner and therefore only scores a 297

ErnestJensen and Jesus Urbina were fine players as well but fall short of being Hall Of Famers

Right Field:  There are only three RF’s in the Hall right now ranging from David Molina (525) to Cesar Campos (294)

CalvinTanaka was one vote shy last season, he was solid fielder as far as COF go and was a tremendous hitter finishing his career with an OPS of 909. My score for him is 376.

ChadScherzer, score 342 is another strong contender for getting my vote. Stealing 744 bases he was a great table setter while also sporting a OBP of 372

Left Field: 5 in the Hall Joel Gomes (488) all the way down to Tike Dykstra (205)

WayneYashian is the only player worth talking about this year as he scored a solid 298. He was good with the bat (284 AVG-402 Homers) and good on the bases (238 steals) while also being a plus defender in LF. Has an outside chance at getting my vote.

Catchers: Pedro Johnson is our on Catcher in the Hall of Fame, score (515)

BobbyThomas (389) I think is very deserving of getting a vote this season (389) Lots of awards and some great hitting numbers (2400 Hits, 363 Homers and a very good 281 AVG.)

SawyerWatkins got two votes last season and his score sits at 350. Doesn’t have the awards that Thomas has but was also great hitter, better then Thomas, but not nearly as solid a fielder.

That’s it for the batters, if I left anyone out its because they weren’t very good or their careers were too short.

Starting Pitchers:

I don’t see anyone who is even close to being a Hall Of Fame

Relief Pitchers: 3 in the Hall Currently

While OtisRivera and Pete Jang were amazing relief pitchers I am not sure they have the numbers that will convince people to vote for them. I could be swayed to go for Rivera if there was a groundswell of support for him
